Care and Maintenance

To ensure your new flooring coverings keep their appearance it is necessary to maintain a regular cleaning routine including dealing with any spillages immediately.

Prevention

Preventitive maintenance is possibly the most important of all the types of care required when purchasing a new floor covering. As the saying goes ” Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance “. Whether you are choosing a hardwood floor , laminate, designer tile or carpet, it is absolutely essential that the subfloor is prepared correctly and good quality subfloor materials or underlays are used where appropriate. Correct use of barrier mats or clean off areas can help reduce the amount of dirt and grit tracked onto a floor by between 80% and 85%, reducing maintenance and extending the life of your floorcovering.

Routine Maintenance

The frequency of routine maintenance will depend on the type of floor covering, the amount of traffic and how the areas are used. It is important to discuss routine maintenance when purchasing a new floorcovering as this may determine your final choice of colour or type of floor covering used. Routine maintenance should begin immediately after the new floor covering is laid.
