Seagrass

Seagrass is a hard impermeable fibre which is not possible to dye by conventional techniques so that most products are supplied in its natural coloured state varying from a yellow green to a dark green hue, or with the addition of coloured yarn such as sisal.

Seagrass has a very unsophisticated spinning and weaving process therefore inconsistencies in quality are likely, naturally stain resistant, anti-static and hardwearing seagrass can be be used in most areas of the home except stairs.

In areas of high humidity or dampness such as bathrooms mould or mildew can form on the surface of the fibre.Normally this can be brushed off when dry, in exceptional cases a weak solution of sterilising fluid such as Milton can be used to treat the affected area. By its very nature seagrass is a NATURAL floorcovering it contains knots, slubs and irregularities which are part of the inherant beauty of these particular products.
