Mohawk Industies has recently launched their brand new Smartstrand carpet with DuPont’s Sorona polymer, it is one of the greenest, most stain resistant carpets produced to date.
Although no carpet is completely stain proof, there are simply different stain protections available that offer varying degrees of protection. Smartstrand carpet is made from corn residue.
Bio-PDO, the key ingredient in Dupont’s Sonora polymer is produced from corn sugar as opposed to petroleum which normal nylon is made from. 37% of Sonora is made from renewable sources. The polymer requires 30% less energy to produce than nylon, greenhouse gas emissions are 63% less compared to regular nylon production.
The superior stain resistance of SmartStrand® carpet is engineered into the fibre and will never wear or wash off, meaning you will never need to retreat the carpet with stain protectors after steam cleaning.
And this engineered-in stain resistance reaches new levels of protection, allowing tough stains such as mustard, red wine, and cherryaid to be removed simply with warm water and a mild detergent, or with Mohawk FloorCare™ Essentials.
The fibre even resists discoloration from bleach.The carpets are available in a wide selection of plain colours in saxony, shagpile and twist pile. With little to no shedding, easy stain removal and excellent appearance retention properties this may be the ideal fibre for a busy home.
